After The Fence

In the last hundred years, the state and the Jewish settlement that preceded it repeatedly pointed to the necessity of the green line, then tore it to shreds, then drew it again. The fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip allowed some to forget what was happening behind it, but not anymore. The October 7th massacre and the brutal war that followed leave us with a broken fence: absolute separation is not possible, it never existed. After the flood, after the fence, Israelis and Palestinians will be forced to recreate their identity from scratch.
