Recently, the police prohibited a demonstration in Sakhnin, claiming it endangered national security.
Since the tragic events of October, I have participated, alongside the All Citizens Party and other movements, in demonstrations against the war and for negotiations to secure the release of Israeli hostages.
I was violently yelled at: "Traitor! You should be thrown into the sea!" Loud music blared from a nearby party. Hatred, vengeance, and a sense of heroism dominated everything.
Today, the intention to protest against the war in Sakhnin led the police to declare the demonstration illegal, claiming it endangered national security. The underlying message remains: the war is just, and it is the only solution.
At the end of the day, we must ask: Is the goal to reduce violence in Israeli society, including within the Arab community? Who is responsible for reducing violence in the country?
A violent police force ignites tensions instead of reducing violence. Could this be the hidden agenda of the government?
Does a protest against stopping the war truly endanger national security?!
