The Arab Society between Conflict Solutions and Its Management

There is no doubt that in the Middle East—where various mediation solutions for the conflict have been presented at the negotiation table and in international forums—most of them have been casually offered in our everyday language, and they have been downgraded—either naturally or intentionally—in favor of managing the conflict and deliberately controlling the “arts” of conflict at both the regional and international levels, so that the conflict continues and occupies the countries of the region in an endless, blood-soaked struggle with ever more casualties.

Any solution that is reached by consensus and not imposed by force lasts longer. There are no eternal or magical solutions.

Every political decision depends on a government elected by the Knesset, and our Arab voice—or our Arab voices—must be decisive and not neutral; otherwise, we will cripple ourselves.

The Arab populations and every citizen have the opportunity to influence the government's local and regional policies.

In light of the prevailing circumstances and based on experience, we see that action—or struggle—through an Arab-Jewish partnership is both indispensable and inevitable, in order for there to be change and impact, or at the very least to prevent matters from deteriorating further. We face great challenges in providing security and returning to the normal lives we have lost, and we are engaged in a daily struggle within our communities—which is preferable and more important than the regional conflict itself.

There should be engagement, and citizens should have an influence in choosing their identity and shaping government policy, just as they have influence in electing the management of local governance.

Simply put, and of great importance, we have both the ability and the duty to influence the change in our daily local and regional reality. Our role is important.
