The party's response to the request for the dismissal of the teacher Ofer Shor by the mayor of Nesher

The All Its Citizens Party takes seriously the dismissal request of teacher Ofer Shor by the mayor of Nesher, Roy Levy, following the release of a video in which Ofer "describes his refusal to serve in the territories of Judea and Samaria and explains why he would continue to refuse even today."

We see this request as gagging and a serious violation of freedom of expression and pluralism in a country that claims to be democratic. Ofer published the video as a private person, on his personal account and on his personal time, and every person has the right to express his opinion in this way.

If the mayor of Nesher indeed fears for the education of his students, we suggest that he stop persecuting teachers and focus on the difficult questions that the youth have to face - does the continued killing and oppression really create security? Is conquering another nation something that we should educate our children about? Is it possible that morality, compassion, and seeing all human beings as equal are actually the right values in light of which our children should be educated and of which will lead us all to a real life of peace, justice, equality and security for all?

The All Its Citizens party stands by the teacher Ofer Shor and wishes every student teachers who are not afraid to express their opinions and educate for peace and equality for all human beings.
