The solution and hope: new elections and a change of government

There is no doubt that this overwhelming support from all sorts of important currents in Israeli society for the pilots' letter is a very important thing and a development that brings some life back to the mass protest that is slowly giving up in the face of the despair that is afflicting the people who thought they could realize democracy and correct their mistake in the last elections. But democracy is betraying them. The helplessness that characterizes the demonstrations is like a balloon full of air that exploded in the face of Israeli democracy. Instead of admitting this, they prefer to ignore it. It is doubtful whether support for the letter is what will restore democracy to its strength and the people's faith in it.

Time will tell.

Even the catastrophic errors in Netanyahu's behavior and the IDF's actions in Gaza, which grossly trample on human values that large parts of the nation are trying to restore, fail to cause the protest to awaken and grow stronger again.

The people are badly wounded, both physically and mentally. Only new elections will allow them to correct their mistake and heal them.

The brutal, insane, and sometimes even criminal behavior of the army in Gaza is pouring more fuel on the fire that is consuming the values of democracy, and the people see and are silent. This is what happens with the starvation of more than two million people - it happened and passed in silence. The bombing and destruction of hospitals with patients and staff inside also passed in silence. The targeted killing of dozens of journalists also passed in silence. The targeted killing of Palestinian rescue forces, including the burial of their ambulances, also passed in silence. The attempt to escape the dry statistics of the number of children killed in Gaza and the total number of tens of thousands of civilians killed in Gaza also passed in silence. Most of the Israeli media also participates in this celebration. We all know and are silent. There is complete silence even when we hear about the targeted killing of a terrorist in his home with his wife and children. And sometimes it is not just a house but a multi-story building.

We've already arrived here.

Where else will we go?
