Why wait to end the war and bring back the hostages?

The rumble of tanks, the roar of airplanes, the wail of sirens, and the sounds of explosions and rockets have quieted. Hamas and Hezbollah have nearly been defeated, and there’s nothing more to be done. Yet, Netanyahu’s government continues to hold on despite the immense public anger manifesting in protests day and night.

What is the government waiting for? What prevents it from ending the war, returning the hostages to their families, and starting a peace process that washes away the blood, tears, and dust from the ruins of destroyed homes and broken lives?

Everyone involved in the negotiations – Palestinians, Israelis, Arabs, and Americans – says that Hamas has retreated from its stubbornness and that the time has come to strike a deal to bring back the hostages.

The time for a deal is now—today, not tomorrow. It’s time to understand the simple truth: there is no security without peace, and only peace can bring security to both peoples.

We call on all political actors in the country, from across the spectrum, to push for an end to the war and work towards a just and sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This is the only path to security, prosperity, and preventing the next war. Since the establishment of the state, we have endured wars, destruction, and loss. Now there is an opportunity to end these disasters and redirect resources toward construction, healthcare, education, research, sports, and the welfare of the people, instead of continuing to purchase planes, tanks, ammunition, and rockets.

This government has exhausted its purpose and will not bring us peace. It must be brought down and replaced with a government that will save the state from this tragedy.

A deal now, not tomorrow.

"An unwavering commitment to ending the occupation, achieving sustainable peace, and establishing a just political agreement endorsed by both national communities."— From the founding principles of the "All Its Citizens" party.
